A Pandemic Kind of Thanks Giving
The following are a few of my favorite things.
Giving thanks this holiday season will take on a deeper meaning for so many of us, for so many reasons. The pandemic being a major one of them, but most importantly, the fact that loved ones may not be with us to share in the festivities. As a wife of a front-liner, my husband is exposed to Covid-19 patients on a daily basis. Because of this, quarantine and isolation take on a whole new meaning in our home. Since my husband will be working this Thanksgiving, the evening will be spent with my boys. Although it may seem lonely, my circumstances are truly a blessing. I set the table for eight despite it only being a party of three, not only to bring some holiday spirit to the home, but also as a reminder that I am lucky and truly grateful the empty seats will soon be filled again with the loved ones I had planned on sharing the Lords provisions with. Many families this season will look across their table and see empty seats of loved ones that won’t ever be there to fill them again.
My heart breaks for them, and my thoughts are with them in solidarity.
20pc Stainless Steel Silverware Set Gold – Threshold™
Nothing says holiday table setting better than gold utensils. Gold is the new black, and given that it goes with just about every color it’s paired with; any gold tone item added to a table setting elevates it to a glamorous status. The 20PC Stainless Steel Silverware Set in Gold by Threshold found at Target comes in a set of four. The first thing I always check for when shopping for utensils or dinnerware is if the items are dishwasher safe. Thankfully these are so I don’t have to fuss over washing them by hand after a dinner party. Because they are stainless steel they’re practical, so they are perfect for special occasions, but can be utilized everyday without the risk of damage. Being that this set is stainless steel, it’s also rust proof. It’s an all around win for this set, priced at $35.
Vintage Etched Glassware Collection- William Sonoma
Table top glassware is a must have when setting an elegant spread. This Vintage Etched Glassware Collection by William Sonoma is dainty, and elegant without being overdone. The etched-in floral design reminds me of the art deco era of the 1920’s. Adding the classic coupe glasses often used for champagne is also an option. Only amplifying that “Great Gatsby” charm. As I mentioned before, I am adamant about dinner and glassware that I can maintain easily. This beautiful collection fits the bill, as it is dishwasher safe. Seeing as how this collection is currently on sale, the coupe glasses, pitcher, and spirit decanter are definitely on my holiday list.
Triple Hanging Pumpkin Candle Holder
Table centerpieces are one of my favorite parts of any table setting. I always include flowers, but to add something with a little character is always a nice touch, and can even be a conversation starter amongst your guests. This Triple Hanging Pumpkin Candle Holder from Hobby Lobby is versatile and unique. Unfortunately it’s no longer available.
I wasn’t a fan of the brown finish, so I spray painted it gold and it’s then it’s taken on a more stylish look. The pumpkins can be left hanging or taken off the hooks and placed anywhere needing a little fall decor.
